Meteorologist Jeff Snyder captured this footage of the massive wildfires ravaging central Oklahoma. His 40x time-lapse shows smoke and pyrocumulus produced by a large wildfire near Luther, OK, on August 3, 2012, as seen from northern Arcadia, OK. A very intense pulse that is evident after the 0:40 mark shows a pileus cap.

NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal declared a state of emergency Friday in Assumption Parish after officials ordered an immediate evacuation of the Bayou Corne area because a slurry area appeared to be expanding.
"The fear of the unknown prompted the evacuation order," said John Boudreaux, director of the parish's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. "The fear of it possibly compromising either the nearby pipelines or cavern storage areas, that could cause a risk to the community."
Boudreaux said about 150 homes are affected by the order. He was unsure how long it would remain in effect. The governor's emergency proclamation extends through Sept. 2 unless terminated earlier."

Haikui Landfall in Okinawa / 05 Aug Tropical Storm Update
Tropical Storm Haikui is bringing Tropical Storm strength winds as far North as Kagoshima today and rainfall totals adding up to over 150mm in the past 24hrs. Now as the storm begins to slow down it will intensify and is expected to become a typhoon early this week before moving in to eastern China south of Shanghai, this update talks about this storm where it is going and what you should expect.

Ernesto is now racing into the Caribbean Sea, intensifying only slowly. . It will curve towards the northwest by the beginning of next week, heading towards the Gulf of Mexico at hurricane force.
